ARTFUL LIVING AT ITS BEST
It's not often...and maybe like almost never that I go to the initial onsite visit for a remodel project and I find such a lovely space as I did at Project Fine Collect!
The kitchen and fireplace designs are in need of updates...I’ll get to that in another post…but in the mean time take a look at just a small portion of my stylish clients’ beautiful art and furniture collection. This is what I like to call artful living!
And even my clients' dogs are stylish! How adorable are these two!
LET'S TALK FASHION
What would a site visit be without me showing off a favorite pair of shoes?? And for the record, I may, or may not have these in a different color. To see more like them go here.
THE TAKE AWAY
Project Fine Collect is a wonderful illustration of how dynamic and rich collected-over-time, curated spaces can be. Every piece of artwork, the accessories and the furniture come with stories that reveal the personalities and passions of the clients’.
With all that said, I think stylizing space with long time, curated treasures is a much more difficult design task than doing it with new items. To create a cohesive, yet artful look it takes more thought and skill…and the ability to pair things from different period styles and regions in an intentional, aesthetically pleasing way.
- Did you notice how balanced and even ordered things were with the placement of the artwork and furniture pieces as you looked through the photos? This approach helps to bring calm and refinement to the space. Without balance and order the seemingly “unmatched” pieces could create unwelcome visual clutter.
- The same thing goes with the use of color. Throughout the images you see subtle repetition with the yellow hue of the sofa upholstery being the grounding color. This approach adds variety and interest without causing visual discord.
- The solid textiles of the large area rug, and chair upholstery fabrics also provide the perfect neutral, supporting backdrop to the variety of shapes, lines and colors.
Can you see a theme of order going on here? It is the magic ingredient to pulling off a well-done and refined curated look. Kudos to the clients at Project Fine Collect for masterfully creating such an artful space and for allowing me the privilege to share their beautiful work.
