NEW DESIGN STUDIO PHOTO TOUR - STUDIO

Moving on to the last room in the photo tour - it’s the largest room in the actual studio, and the one I refer to as the “studio” - It’s the space where the design magic happens - where floor plans, elevations and perspectives are designed, and then in time are turned into actual dynamic, functional, built spaces.

YOU ARE HERE

WORK TABLES

The two large tables are the work horses of the space and have been ideal for spreading out plans and portable drafting boards. At the end of each table, is a handy cluster of organizational storage for current project files, and design / drawing tools, like architectural scales and mechanical pencils.

OVER-SIZES WALL LIGHTS

One of my favorite things in the space are the over-sized, plug-in wall lamps that are centered above each of the 92” tables. The shades are 22” wide, and 12” high. And the over-all height of the lamps are 33”. Besides providing nice lighting, the lamps add interest and dynamic style to the space, and because of their size and ability to extend (up to 73”), they act more as ceiling fixtures than wall lights.

ROUND MIRRORS

Also adding dimension and interest, while not visually cluttering the space are large round, gold metal, framed mirrors, hung on the walls  just below the bases of each of the lamps.

PRINTER CONSOLE & FILING CABINETS

Included in the space is a printer console with rolling file cabinets below.

COMPUTER WORK

Along with spreading out plans, drawings and materials, the large work tables also provide an alternative space for desk top work with preparing digital presentation, etc.

WINDOWS & DOORS

The four windows that are east and south facing, flood the space with tons of natural light, along with the 3/4 lite exterior side door that matches the front door.

Speaking of doors, have you noticed the full lite interior door between the studio and workroom? There is also another one between the office and workroom. Right away after leasing the space, I replaced the existing doors in those two  locations to glass so as to create a more open feel between the different rooms.
